Thank You Volunteers

It was volunteerism at its best during the 65th Annual Western Intercollegiate Tournament. Warmest thanks is extended to each and every volunteer who offered assistance during this 3-day premier event at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

Once again, long-time friends and alums rallied in support of SJSU Men's Golf and the WI Planning Committee, lending help whenever needed--from Friday's Practice Round/College-Am and celebratory banquet through final round on Sunday.

Special thanks are also extended to Sun SafeTee and the Santa Cruz Cancer Benefit Group volunteers who teamed up with medical professionals providing free skin cancer screening for players, coaches, club members, and staff. The sun skin awareness and protection initiative was well-received by tournament participants and has the support of the Golf Coaches Association of America, Doctor's Orders: Play Golf, PGA TOUR, and WI event product sponsor SunDog Eyewear distributed AMA Golf.

And while this years tournament was a huge success due in great part to the dedicated team of volunteers, it's not too early to sign up for an assignment for next year. Volunteers assignments include: greeters, parking assistance, registration assistants, hole marshals, scorers, etc. You need not have a background in golf to lend a hand at “The Western” but previous tournament experience is helpful. We are looking for individuals and alums who are service-oriented and who enjoy giving back through the game of golf.

If you are interested in assisting at the 2012 Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club with a chance to view some spectacular golf on a top-100 course, please contact:

“The Western Intercollegiate is a prestigious tournament in golf, especially this year when it celebrates its 64th year of tradition. Collegiate players love the overall competitive element and event supporters enjoy the chance to tee it up alongside them in the College-Am.”
